Wheel 1-1.5
This ever-popular class is designed for anyone new to the potter’s wheel, as well as those with some experience interested in (re-)establishing a firm foundation for more advanced work. Our skilled instructors guide you through the entire ceramic process tailoring each lesson to suit the diverse needs of the group. Students generally leave the class with a nice selection of completed mugs and bowls. This is a fantastic opportunity to become acquainted with the MCP community, and many people enjoy taking this class several times before continuing on to other classes.
No experience necessary. 10 lbs. finished work included in this class.

I really enjoyed this class, the structure, and the studio. Thank you for a great 6 weeks!
I took Wheel 1-1.5 as my very first pottery throwing class ever. With zero experience I was able to create 9 pieces by the end of class. The instructors are amazing and learning the process was surprisingly meditative. However, the culture at Midwest Clay Project is what will keep me coming back for more.
Midwest Clay Project has been a very special place for my daughter and I this summer. Life has been stressful lately, and MCP has been a place to take a time out, create, relax, and connect. We both took classes that we really enjoyed. The instructors are wonderful at building skills and fostering creativity. I’ve dabbled in pottery for years, and was amazed at how many new things I learned in a Wheel 1 class. The studio is a welcoming environment and we both enjoyed coming in for open studio time.
As a full-time working mom of two, I rarely make time for myself. I signed up for a class on a whim and it was the best thing I could have done! Not only did I have a blast, but the experience itself was even better. The studio was clean, the staff were friendly and even the resident members had a kind smile or friendly word of advice when asked. Thank you Midwest Clay for giving me the creative outlet I didn’t know I needed! -Erika N.
